Hardstone LCoS PGU: The Optimal Balance of Volume, Performance, and Cost

The LCoS PGU is a core embodiment of Hardstone’s independent R&D capabilities. Since initiating technical research in 2020 and launching pre-development in 2021, the project has undergone years of dedicated innovation and multiple rounds of iteration, achieving mass production in 2024. Throughout the process, Hardstone overcame key technical challenges, filed and secured over a dozen invention patents, and built a proprietary, future-proof technology system with full independent control.

Key Advantages of Hardstone’s LCoS Solution:

·Independent R&D of Hardstone without patent issues;

·Highly integrated chip delivering superior performance;

·Up to 4K resolution with fine image quality;

·Ultra-high brightness and contrast;

·Robust mass production capacity;

·Flexibly adaptable to various cockpit designs.

The latest LCoS PGU of Hardstone features industry-leading 4K resolution. Based on exclusive patented optical path design, LCoS PGU achieves optimal visual effects and boasts cutting-edge 120%sRGB, 400 lumens brightness and 2000:1 contrast.

Powered both by LCoS PGU and waveguide technology, Hardstone’s new generation LCoS AR-HUD supports a full-color 4K resolution, 2000:1 high contrast ratio and 15000nits high brightness. Supported by optimized optical design, this product achieves 19°x10° FOV in a small volume, with 20m ultra-far VID and 297-inch ultra-large FOV. Professional AR algorithms are also utilized to realize the industry-leading optical display quality.

Beyond AR-HUD, Hardstone’s LCoS technology powers a range of in-vehicle projection products, including Immersive Film Display, Virtual Personal Assistant, Intelligent Car Light, Side Window Projection, Skylight Glass Infotainment, etc., further enhancing automotive smart cockpits. Of note, Hardstone has successfully developed prototypes for Immersive Film Display and Virtual Personal Assistant, which are currently undergoing in-vehicle testing.

Market data shows the global smart cockpit market for passenger cars is valued at approximately RMB 366.8 billion in 2024, projected to grow to RMB 429.6 billion by 2025. As a mature, independently controlled display technology, LCoS is becoming a key link in the smart cockpit supply chain, offering vast market potential and clear investment value.

Looking ahead, Hardstone will continue to drive the frontier of LCoS and next-gen display technologies through its proprietary innovations, spearheading a new wave of automotive intelligence transformation.
